Mats Lindström (b. 1960) has worked with electroacoustic music and live electronics since
the 1980s. With a past as an engineer in the electronics industry Lindström
has designed and constructed a number of unique electronic musical
instruments and apparatuses. He has worked with intermedia art and music
for theatre and dance. He has collaborated with many improvisers/composers,
in particular with Dror Feiler. He only collaborated once with Hugh Davies
at a festival in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1998. One of the ensuing results
was an egg-slicer sextet realised by Hugh Davies in the book/CD Sounds
Heard.
In several of his works Lindström has included parts for children as he did
in the group Girl Power (1998-2000) and in "Für die Jugend der Welt"
performed at the Inventionen Festival Berlin 2002 with his 10 years old
daughter as performer. Those ideas indirectly came from the inspiring work
Davies had done earlier. Since 2004 Lindström is the Executive and Artistic
Director of EMS (the Institute for Electroacoustic Music in Sweden).
