Some Comments of the tracks by the composer
Microclima II (2004)
The intention of the author is to join together electroacoustic techniques and Sardinian traditional
music. The composition is a picture of the ancient land in the Mediterranean sea and evokes the
sounds of the nature, the voice of the people and the atmosphere of its traditions and colours. It is
possible to recognize the traditional "Canto a Tenore", a typical example of vocal polyphonic music
and also the sound of the "Launeddas", the traditional musical instrument made of three pipes.
Nello Spazio Sommerso (2005)
An imaginary trip inside the human mind can be the attempt to find a submerged space: logic and
irrationality in its structure coexist, sometimes concrete, sometimes imperceptible. It is the reason to
follow the compass that inexorably leads to the reality of the already explored: the surface which
support human knowledge.
Sguardo Contemporaneo (A contemporary glance) (2006)
This piece is inspired by urban life and pollution. Exhaust fumes and waste modify the appearance
of a city to such an extent that traces of the past remain only in one's memory. The image of what
the physical world was like before overlaps with what it is today - polluted and therefore altered.
Memory filters out the "additions", and acts as a sort of virtual "garbage disposal" that restores the
environment to its original value. The question is: what would a contemporary glance pass on? Are
the younger generations able to disapprove as strongly and to feel the same discomfort as those who
have historical memory?
Omaggio a Velazquez (2008)
The composition is inspired by the genius of Velazquez who represents things as they appear,
reducing them to "spots of colour" which, in the electroacoustic composition, are represented by
instrumental quotations whose function is to describe in music his art free from the most dramatic
and flamboyant aspects of Baroque.
C'era una volta... (Once upon a time...) (2009)
The composition ideally comments a fantasy and indefinite tale: sounds which compose the
episodes follow one another in parallel with the narrative sequences of the classic tale. Here take
place the "moods" corresponding to the oppression of good over evil, expressed by the contrast and
the alternation of tension and relaxation, evoked using bands sound and melodic-rhythmic cells. Do
not miss the final reflection (the moral fairytale) in which the compositional elements reappear to
suggest a return to the initial state of calm that negative events had compromised.
